Who I Am

Qui je suis

As a San Diego native, I have been surrounded by different languages and cultures my whole life.  I have always been intrigued by the world and the cultural differences it had to offer.  As a child, I was an active member of the Girl Scouts and frequently travelled to Mexico to participate in volunteer work with my troop.

It wasn’t until my college years did I realize that international education was a niche in which I could apply my experiences and further develop internationally.  My first experience in France was during winter break of my first year of undergraduate at the University of California, Davis (UCD).  Tagging along as “the American” with a family friend, I discovered a world beyond my Californian bubble.

After 3 weeks in the South of France I began to pursue French Language back at my home institute.  Eager to learn more, I went abroad in the Fall of 2014 with the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) in Paris to study French Language and Culture.  Feeling a great desire to return to France after my program ended, I made the decision to go back and do a summer abroad program with UC Davis in the summer of 2015.  During both of my times as an international student I learned both about new places, cultures, and peoples; but I also learned a great deal about myself and who I was and strived to be as an individual.

After graduating from UC Davis, I returned back to France to work as an English Language Assistant with the Teaching Abroad Program in France (TAPIF).  I worked alongside French high school English professors as well as conducting my own small group classes with an emphasis in oral and linguistic comprehension. After working with TAPIF for 2 years, I went on to obtain my Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certification (TEFL) with the International TEFL academy and tutored in English for a year.  To advance my knowledge and pursue a career in study abroad I am now currently an M.A candidate in International Education Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

In my free time I enjoy walking my dog on the beach, swimming, cooking, taking long drives, and going to art exhibits.
